Controversy at the 17th Shanghai International Film Festival

Perhaps that deadline is oxymoronic. The 17th Shanghai Film Festival has just concluded. Along with the usual glitz, glamour and awards – Greek film Little England won the award for Best Film – the news which really hit the headlines concerned accusations that SIFF had organised a “fake” press conference about Chinese film The Uncle Victory, whose male lead – Huang Haibo – was arrested for solicitation in May.
