A report in the China Daily suggests that Cannes is in the process of bringing a new film city to China’s eastern seaboard. According to the newspaper, Cannes is co-operating with the China Film Exchange and Cooperation Association and the Asia Pacific Exchange and Cooperation Foundation to build a USD 1 billion Film City in Anji County, Zhejiang Province. Integral to this project will apparently be a “world-class international film festival”, modelled on Cannes, but with Chinese characteristics. Read the original report here.
