YOU ARE HERE<\/strong> is a location specific opera by composer\u00a0Miika Hyyti\u00e4inen<\/a>\u00a0and director\u00a0Jaakko Nousiainen<\/a>. The work creates a novel abstraction of the concept of the opera house by connecting interior spaces of\u00a0Glyndebourne Opera to exterior spaces of the opera houses in Berlin, Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper and Komische Oper.<\/p>\n

YOU ARE HERE\u00a0<\/strong>is encountered as a set of six visual artworks that each contain a QR code,\u00a0which can be activated with a smartphone camera. The codes connect\u00a0to short opera videos, forming a virtual peephole between Glyndebourne and Berlin.<\/p>\n

This opera was commissioned by the\u00a0Opera and the Media of the Future\u00a0<\/strong>(OMF<\/a>) research initiative, from the\u00a0Centre for Research in Opera and Music Theatre<\/strong>\u00a0(CROMT<\/a>) and is published by REFRAME<\/a>. It was launched publicly at the inaugural OMF event<\/a> at Glyndebourne, Sussex, on October 24, 2014.
