Leo Bersani is currently Professor in the Department of English, University of Pennsylvania, and Emeritus Professor in the Department of French, University of California Berkeley. He is the author of seventeen books, including\u00a0The Freudian Body: Psychoanalysis and Art<\/em>\u00a0(1986),The Culture of Redemption\u00a0<\/em>(1990),\u00a0Homos<\/em>\u00a0(1995),\u00a0Intimacies<\/em>\u00a0(co-authored with Adam Phillips, 2008),\u00a0<\/em>Is the Rectum a Grave? and Other Essays<\/em>\u00a0(2010),\u00a0and\u00a0Thoughts and Things<\/em>\u00a0(2015)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Bersani’s lecture at Sussex will range across various aspects of psychoanalysis, philosophy, film and literature, including the work of Lacan, D.H. Lawrence and Samuel Beckett, Kimberly Peirce’s\u00a0Boys Don’t Cry<\/em>\u00a0and Lars von Trier’s\u00a0Melancholia<\/em>.<\/p>\n
