The original call can be seen<a href=\"http:\/\/www.soundandmusic.org\/resources\/opportunities\/2014\/mini-web-opera-call\" target=\"_blank\"> here.<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\"> Applicants were invited to re-imagine opera for the web, and consider the following questions: What does opera \u2018mean\u2019 on this scale and through this medium? How can the composer\/media artist engage an operatic audience? What is the work\u2019s relation to the \u2018live\u2019?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The panel reviewed 17 proposals, and we were gratified by the amount of creativity and innovation on offer. We are delighted to announce two winners, whose projects have received modest development funds:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\"><a title=\"You are Here\" href=\"http:\/\/reframe.sussex.ac.uk\/youarehere\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>You Are Here<\/strong><\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/jaakkonousiainen.net\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Jaakko Nousiainen<\/strong><\/a> (director) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.miika.info\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Miika Hyyti\u00e4inen<\/strong><\/a> (composer)<a href=\"http:\/\/www.miika.info\/\" target=\"_blank\">.<\/a> <em>Now online <a title=\"You are Here\" href=\"http:\/\/reframe.sussex.ac.uk\/youarehere\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\"><a title=\"RUR\" href=\"http:\/\/reframe.sussex.ac.uk\/rur\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong> RUR-Rossums Universal <em>Replicants<\/em><\/strong><\/a> by <a href=\"http:\/\/martinrieser.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Martin Rieser<\/strong> <\/a>(electronic\/interactive artist) and <a href=\"http:\/\/andrewhugill.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Andrew Hugill<\/strong><\/a> (composer). <em>Now online <a title=\"RUR\" href=\"http:\/\/reframe.sussex.ac.uk\/rur\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>here.<\/strong><\/a><\/em><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>The panel also wished to commend proposals from <a title=\"Elizabeth Swift Web Opera Project\" href=\"http:\/\/www.voidprojects.plus.com\/opera%20web\/link%20page\/link.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Elizabeth Swift<\/strong><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.worcester.ac.uk\/discover\/elizabeth-swift.html,\" target=\"_blank\">,<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jkr-music.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Jasmin Rodgman<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/pietrodossena.wordpress.com\/bio\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Pietro Dossena<\/strong><\/a>.
